Karuk Fire Race is a short animated retelling of a traditional Karuk Coyote story about how fire was brought to the animal people. Through stylized visuals and atmospheric storytelling, the film highlights themes of community, courage, and survival, and is spoken in the Karuk language by Karuk linguist Phil Albers. “Coyote Story” is a short animated retelling of a traditional Chippewa (Ojibwe) tale in which Coyote encounters a group of ducks and sets out to trick them. Through gesture, timing, and visual humor, the film follows Coyote as he flatters and deceives the ducks for his own gain, only to face the consequences of his greed and cleverness. The story is voiced by Ojibwe storyteller Isabelle Osawamick, and directed and animated by Daniel Welynn. (Before name change). The film came together with a team of truly talented artists to help bring Native stories to wider audiences while supporting language and cultural preservation.
